Executive Director Report: Volunteer Screening

Dear Presidents,

Screening our volunteers is one of the most important steps that we must take in creating and fostering a safe environment within our sport. An effective screening policy is an essential tool that acts as that first step in the process of determining whether or not an individual should be placed in a position of trust – either as a coach/bench staff, board member, volunteer or any other position where access to vulnerable populations, finances or confidential information are part of the role.

All members of your association who are placed in any volunteer (or paid) positions, are to undergo screening as part of your Membership Agreement. I have created a Volunteer Screening report to help you understand Ringette Ontario's Screening Policy and the processes which are expected of you and your Association.

Yours In Ringette,
